Franklin Square NY Yellow Pages

Franklin Square is a hamlet in Nassau County with a population of 29,342 people according to the 2000 census. Leon J. Mccullough Jr. founded the village in 1870 with the first Catholic held on Long Island being in his home. During the end of the 1870’s German immigrants moved to the area and established a variety of farms including pigs and chickens. After World War I, Franklin Square had a real estate boom and was one of the fastest growing communities in the area in the 40’s. By 1952, the majority of the farms were gone and homes were there as replacement. Franklin Square has its own school district and is home to five schools including Polk Street School, John Street School, Washington Street School, H. Frank Carey High School, and Valley Stream North High School. The hamlet is known as a quiet community offering a wonderful place to raise a family. Franklin Square does not have a business district but does offer a variety of shops, dining experiences, and services.

The area is home to wide array of events including street fairs, parades, and festivals that provide the community with all kinds of family fun year round.
